Antarctic krill oil
Krill oil brings together omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids, choline and naturally occurring astaxanthin. This ingredient profile distinguishes it from fish oil.
Both omega-3 quantity and lipid form matter to the description of the oil. In krill oil, a proportion of EPA and DHA is associated with phospholipids, including phosphatidylcholine. The amount of each component depends on the selected ingredient and requires specification evidence.

- Phospholipids
- Part of the oil’s lipid fraction. Phosphatidylcholine is one phospholipid and contains choline.
- Choline
- Present within phosphatidylcholine. Phospholipid mass must not be presented as an equivalent amount of choline.
- Astaxanthin
- A carotenoid naturally present in krill oil. Its concentration is an ingredient-specification parameter.
